This past Monday was Madison's 50 week birthday! Yikes! 2 more weeks to go before we give her her own car keys and credit cards! Oh wait... We still got a few more years for that, but it seems like Madi has grown up soooo much so quickly. These past few weeks, especially, she has been determined to (finally) get a wee bit more mobile. She's always trying her hardest to crawl when she's on her hands and knees, and she has finally mastered the art of sitting up on her own! Yay! Whenever we put her on the floor on her hands and knees, she immediately sits up on her own... And then (it's like she's showing off that she can do it), she will lie back down on her belly from the sitting position.
Here's a video of her sitting up on her own from her hands and knees... She's A LOT quicker than this, but she LOVES watching Regis & Kelly in the mornings, she was a LITTLE bit distracted. (Madi's mama is such a great influence letting her watch TV at such a young age, huh?)
Madison is also VERY interested in trying to walk! Mommy's back is starting to hurt from bending over so much and "walking" Madi through all of the rooms around the house. She just wants to walk and walk and walk. She loves standing up so much more than rolling around on the floor these days. I think we're gonna finally have to start baby proofing the house! Eeks! Another thing that Madison has been attempting to do is climbing up on things. She hasn't been successful at it yet, but you can see the wheels turning in that brain of hers, as she reaches up to objects (or my legs) and tries to figure out how to scoot herself on up.
At 50 weeks old, Madi got her VERY FIRST baby fever! :( Boooo!!! Madi had a fever of about 100 degrees (temperature taken under the armpit) and was super hot and sweaty for a little over a day. She's been sleeping (literally) through the night for a good 12 hours everyday, so when the one night she woke up at 1am screaming and crying, I knew something was wrong. :( I picked her up and never felt her so hot and sweaty before. It took awhile to calm her back down, but after cooling her off with a cool washcloth and lots of hugs and kisses, she was able to go back to sleep until morning. We had to give her some baby tylenol and that seemed to help her fight the fever. Poor baby! I HATE seeing my baby feeling all icky! The fever is gone, but now she's battling some pretty thick congestion and a tiny cough. It breaks my heart every time she wants to nurse, but can't because she can't breathe through her nose while trying to suck for milk. :( Let's hope she gets better REAL soon!
Even though Madi has been sick this week, her fever and cold haven't stopped her from wanting to play, laugh, and be silly. She's still on a tear, trying to walk, and gets a kick out of herself every time she sits up (and lies down) on her own!
